Order before December 20th, and get a signed copy in time for Christmas!

Dean has had enough of school and wishes he could escape, but little does he know that his wish is about to be granted in a most unexpected way.

In “Dean’s Magical Mix Up: The Principal’s Pin,” Dean, a young middle-grade student, hates going to school.  After enduring a particularly awful school day, Dean stumbles upon the Principal’s Pin, a peculiar, shimmering object lying on the floor. Curiosity gets the better of him, and he pockets the mysterious pin.

That night, he goes to bed wishing he were an adult, never suspecting that he will wake up the next day transformed into the school principal! Suddenly thrust into the responsibilities and challenges of adulthood, Dean learns valuable lessons about growing up that he never expected.

Through a series of comical and heartwarming situations, Dean discovers that being an adult comes with its own set of struggles and responsibilities. If you enjoyed “The Magic Treehouse,” series you’ll also enjoy “Dean’s Magical Mix Up: The Principal’s Pin.” Buy now to get a signed copy with FREE shipping!

Feathers From Above

“Feathers From Above,” is a rhyming children’s book for ages 3-7. The book discusses how feathers are often found on the ground randomly, but may not be random at all. Angels. Guardian Angels to be precise.

“Feathers From Above,” is a beautiful depiction of how Guardian Angels watch over us throughout our lives and protect us in all situations. When bad things happen they are with us to remind us we have nothing to fear.

“Feathers From Above,” was inspired by Kathleen’s children. They would find feathers and tell her that their Guardian Angel must have paid them a visit. She knew right away that this would be the frame work for her next book

A feather may be found by your bed, near the couch, in the car, or even floating in the air.  Feathers are often found randomly, but may not be random at all. “Feathers From Above,” is a rhyming children’s book that discusses how feathers fall directly from the wings of our very own Guardian Angels. These Angels are sent from God to watch over us throughout our lives, and their feathers are reminders that we have nothing to fear

Brave

“BRAVE,” her first book, was based on her children’s fears at night. They were not sleeping well and were waking her up through the night. She could not find a book that was age appropriate, did not create more fears in children, and reinforced that they were safe and loved. Six months later, her book was self-published.

BRAVE is based on the real life experiences of a child who is scared of going to bed at night. This book is for every child and shows there is a super hero within us and we have nothing to fear. We are safe.  We are loved.  We are BRAVE

Here are the latest things I have been up to…

  • The Importance of reading
Want to know a few more tips to help your child excel at reading? Check out this article about the five strands of reading and ways to assist your child in each of those strands.
  • The Real Truth About Santa
As children grow we may find ourselves stuck between wanting to hold on to their innocence and maintaining the truth. Read to see how you can do both!
  • Book Three is Coming In November and here’s the new title…
This book is AMAZING. It is a young middle grade fantasy book meant for children as young as 5, but has a purposeful reading level intended for 3rd and 4th grade children. The chapters are short so that all kids can find success with their reading stamina AND for parents who are reading to their kids before bed and just want to go the F*#& to sleep. It will have color illustrations, a glossary, and questions to reflect on.
  • What’s Been Happening? Agents and motivation
Over the summer many things came to fruition. I got an agent, lost said agent, and wrote two books.
  • Christopher Award Article
Though Kathleen Davis and Gary Jansen each tell different stories in their respective Christopher Award-winning children’s books “Feathers from Above” and “Remember Us with Smiles,” the one common theme is love. Kathleen explores the love of God that gave us each a guardian angel, while Gary (and his wife and co-author Grace) reflect on the profound love of family. Both authors joined me recently on “Christopher Closeup” (podcast below) to discuss their work and the spiritual beliefs that guided them in the writing process.
