Our CPR and AED training course is designed specifically for laypeople, and is an excellent choice for CPR and AED in both community and workplace settings. This extremely flexible program will help prepare individuals to respond to sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) and choking incidents. This CPR and AED course conforms to the 2015 AHA Guidelines Update for CPR and ECC.

Blended Learning: Individuals and/or businesses may opt for blended learning (ASHI only). Instruction will be provided via the internet at one’s own leisure. Once complete, a place and time will be agreed upon for the student(s) to demonstrate the hand-on skills.

Disclaimers:

** The American Heart Association (AHA) has strict guidelines for its instructor-led BLS courses. With that in mind, Mach Safety’s BLS Instructor for Healthcare Providers will not deviate from those guidelines. Each class will consist of the following elements per the AHA Instructor Manual:

  • AHA BLS Course Video (to be played in its entirety)
  • At least 1 Manikin, Bag-Valve-Mask (BVM) & AED Trainer for every 3 Students (9 students maximum per instructor per class)
  • 1 CPR Training Mask per Student (sanitized after each class)
  • 1 One-way Training valve per Student (disposed of after each class)
  • In order for a student to pass the course, each student must successfully show proficiency through a hands-on exam strictly observed by the instructor and an 84% score on a 25-question written exam.
  • Since the video must be played in its entirety, and hands-on practice must accompany the video plus the hands-on and written exams, students should plan for the BLS class to last at least 4 hours.

** The American Safety & Health Institute (ASHI) instructor-led classes will be conducted in the same fashion as the AHA classes, however, the ASHI course video will be played in its entirety in place of the AHA video.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • When does a BLS/CPR certification expire?

Two years from the date of issuance

  • What are the course completion requirements for the BLS Provider Course?

    • Participate in hands-on interactive demonstrations of high-quality CPR skills
    • Demonstrate proficiency on the Adult Skills Test
    • Demonstrate proficiency on the Infant Skills Test

    • Demonstrate proficiency on the Adult skills Test

  • Can I earn BLS or CPR Certification online by watching videos?

Some “fly-by-night” companies offer CPR certification without requiring a hands-on component, however, all reputable companies will require such component as the American Heart Association (AHA), the American Safety & Health Institute (ASHI) or the American Red Cross will not issue a BLS or CPR Certificate that does not include a Hands-on Assessment.

  • What are the pros and cons of instructor-led vs. blended learning?

With instructor-led courses, students will receive much more hands-on practice. The appeal of the blended learning is that since the students watch the videos online at their own pace, the in-person hands-on exam only takes approximately 30 minutes to an hour depending on the proficiency of the student. The instructor-led courses on the other hand take approximately 4 hours (6 hours if first aid is included).
