Overview

Alprazolam is a medication primarily prescribed to treat anxiety disorders, panic disorders, and occasionally for the management of depression. It belongs to the benzodiazepine class of drugs, which act on the central nervous system to produce a calming effect by enhancing the effects of a neurotransmitter called gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA).
