eBusiness UK helps customer maintain top rankings after acquisition and name change

An SEO migration project has seen long-standing eBusiness UK customer Excitech retain its hard-earned top search engine rankings after it was acquired and became Symetri. Taking on a new name and web address would ordinarily mean losing all top search engine spots, but thanks to the collaborative work between eBusiness UK and Excitech we managed to retain the majority of their positions. Specialist technology services firm Excitech has been working with eBusiness UK for over four years. The project began when they had limited visibility on the major search engines. Soon, they were ranking first or second for a number of their target keywords, and search engines became the source of more than half of all visitors to the site. Excitech was then acquired by Addnode Group and in January 2021 the company was integrated with another brand in the Group and became Symetri. While Symetri had a good presence in the UK market, its search engine rankings lagged those of Excitech. eBusiness UK’s expert SEO team faced three challenges:
  • Sending web traffic to a new domain
  • Migrating SEO work to a new content management platform
  • Integrating the SEO into an existing website
Latif Kothia, eBusiness UK director, said: “We have completed successful SEO migrations before, but this project had three very distinct challenges, each with their own complications, and all required delivering at the same time. SEO projects don’t get more challenging than this.” The project began in the second half of 2020, ready for an immediate switch when the integration completed in January 2021. By the end of January 2021, Symetri had earned four first place rankings, 18 in the top five and 33 on the first page. The results were immediate: a more than 1,000% increase in traffic to the website driven by SEO, which resulted in a 618% increase in total traffic over the previous month. Yvette Dainton, Marketing Director of Symetri UK said: “We have been working with eBusiness UK for a number of years and are aware of the breadth and depth of their SEO expertise and felt confident that they would be able to help us maintain our top rankings following our integration with Symetri. “That said, the work done by the team and the results we have seen in just the first few months alone have far exceeded our expectations and we’re grateful that the team has helped smooth the transition as we begin this exciting new chapter of our business.”   About the author: Established in 1998, eBusiness UK was an early SEO pioneer and we continue to deliver and stay ahead of the market over 20 years later.
